Prambanan Temple

The temple is a place for religious activities for Hindus and Buddhists alike. The temple of Hindus is Prambanan Temple, which was designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1991. Prambanan Temple is one of the temples located not far from Yogyakarta city. The location of Prambanan Temple is in two districts, namely Sleman, Yogyakarta and Klaten, Central Java.

Historically, Prambanan Temple was built in the time of Rakai Pikatan, who was the king of the Sanjaya dynasty, around 850 BC. This temple was built to honor Lord Shiva as the supreme deity. The Prambanan Temple complex has three main temple buildings and several other temples. Dewa Shiva Temple is the largest and highest temple. Dewa Wisnu’s temple is smaller and is located to the left of Shiva Temple. And Lord Vishnu Temple is located on the right side of Lord Shiva Temple.

Aside from being a religious and historical tourist destination, the Prambanan temple complex is also one of the tourist attractions that is very suitable for photography activities. Besides that, of course you can get special souvenirs from Prambanan Temple if you visit, T-shirts, key chains, necklaces up to the miniature of Prambanan Temple. The location is easy to reach, located on the edge of the main road Yogyakarta – Solo, making Prambanan Temple a favorite tourist destination in the Yogyakarta area.
